Art often finds its way into life unexpectedly, and for Anupama Dandona, the founder of Dot Heart by Anu, the journey has been magical. Wearing many hats with grace, Anupama is a teacher by profession; she is also an avid lawn tennis player, passionate cook, and enjoys singing as a hobby. Anupama’s transformation into a dot artist was a journey of serendipity and self-discovery.
Anupama reminiscences that as a child, she struggled with even the simplest of drawings, so much so that her brother would step in to complete her art & science illustrations. Art seemed like an unattainable skill, and for years, she had no inclination towards it. But the lockdown offered a chance to explore new horizons — fascinated by YouTube tutorials on dot art, she began experimenting. Starting with simple painted bottles gifted to friends, her confidence and passion grew with every dot she painted. Soon, she expanded to creating intricate coasters and wall art on MDF boards. Encouraged by her daughter and husband to share her creations with the world, she took a leap of faith and started selling her artwork online. Thus, Dot Heart by Anu was launched.
